Emerald Shears is a progressive web app designed to help students prepare for the TDLR state written exam. Instructors of Schools that utilize our system are able to view the student’s progress and guide them in the direction they need to improve. At this time, only the Study Guide program for Cosmetology Operator is available. Others will be available in the near future.
What makes Emerald Shears different? Besides being compatible with the most modern systems and mobile devices, we are the creators. When you speak with us here at Emerald Shears, you are talking with the creators and developers of Emerald Shears. We want to work directly with the Instructors and Students of Texas to make sure Emerald Shears is living up to your expectations and standards.

Costs (Effective 1/23/2023)
Cost is based on a per student license and account for each chosen plan. Accounts can not be shared between students.
Schools are automatically given a discount on all license purchases. Discounts are based on a tiered purchase model for each plan type. Invoices must be paid in full before licenses are issued.

  • 30 Day License per Student - $24
  • 60 Day License per Student - $39
  • 90 Day License per Student - $59
Discounts
  • 1 to 10 - 10% Discount
  • 11 to 20 - 15% Discount
  • 21 to 99 - 20% Discount
Cost Planner
Setup
There are no setup fees or costs associated with instructors. The school must be registered with TDLR and be able to provide the following information.
TDLR School Permit Number and License Numbers of instructors
School Name, Phone number and Texas Tax Exempt number
Postal and Street address
Program Director and Invoicing contact (Accounts Payable)
